'A ripping blend of pastiche and homage. A triumph of visual comedy.'
Time Out - Critics' Choice
'Dramatic entertainment redolent of a bygone era.'
The Guardian
Classic radio yarns, brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism. Gasp at The Man Who Was Ten Minutes Late! Puzzle over The Four-Minute Mystery! Thrill to Mudmen from the Thames!
Original 40s-style rip-roaring tales, with sound effects created live by an acclaimed cast fresh from two sell-out London runs.
Absolutely spiffing teatime show that recreates the innocent, clipped, Bulldog Drummond spirit of Forties live radio drama, with a skilled company of six stepping up their retro mics to unfold such ripping yarns as The Man Who Was Ten Minutes Late, Mudmen from the Thames and The Four-Minute Mystery. A Joy.
Fitzrovia Radio Hour presents “A Kick Up The Arts”, a very special broadcast for Will Gompertz (BBC Arts editor). You can take a peek at the video by following this door in the interweb to the BBC’s pages.
Fitzrovia Radio Hour continues to receive excellent reviews with 4 stars from the Metro in London today – “Their act has matured as agreeable as a vintage wine”. Edinburgh previews take place from July 27-31 at The Last Days Of Decadence in Shoreditch, London. Click for map and address
A great mention for Fitzrovia from Evening Standard comedy critic Bruce Dessau, “Lovingly recreated spoofs of Fifties radio drama do not come better than this. The gifted young ensemble both evoke and satirise a long-gone era when unseen performers wore tuxedos in a quickfire trilogy involving a battling boxer, a haunted house and a disappearing Eiffel Tower. Smart gags and smart clothes too.”
